Gryphon Investment Bank is an investment banking firm focused on the main emerging markets of Europe and the Middle East. We typically work as an M&A and capital raising adviser to private sector entrepreneurs and companies, located in our target geographies. The main countries of operation for the firm are Egypt, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Ukraine, which are the largest emerging economies in the region by population. We also invest our own capital, through Gryphon Holdings plc, into promising growth companies in these territories.
Gryphon was founded in 1998 as a spin out from Carnegie Emerging Markets, the leading emerging markets brokerage and corporate finance subsidiary of the prominent Scandinavian investment bank. The firm is now owned by its management and a group of prestigious European family offices and high net worth individuals. We are based in London and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, with offices in the Isle of Man, Moscow, Warsaw and Washington and local representatives in the other territories we cover.
Gryphon's senior team have a collective experience in Eastern Europe and the Middle East dating back to the 1970s and as a result of this longstanding presence in the region, we work primarily with companies and individuals with whom we have developed long term relationships over this period. The majority of our business is generated through this network and associated referrals and we are proud to have organised early stage financing for various companies that are now market leaders in their countries.
Gryphon works with its clients and investee companies on a relationship rather than transactional basis. We typically advise on both specific capital raising and M&A projects and also more general issues of company strategy and relationship with the capital markets. Through our own resources and an extensive network of consultants and experienced professionals from the west, we often deliver assistance at many levels of our clients' businesses, as they seek to develop high quality corporations in an emerging markets environment.
